You may remember that, back in early February, the Ontario Library Association (OLA) invited all libraries to participate in the âPimp my Book Truckâ? contest. The instructions were to enter a âtricked outâ? version of a standard book cart, making it as elaborate as possible using themes, paint, or props. The only rules? The cart still had to be able to roll and to hold at least a few books!
The OISE Library book truck, OISE ABT (All-Book Terrain) Vehicle: Ready for Anything, currently on display on the Ground Floor of the Library, was designed and assembled by Joanne Lynes, Access Services Associate and Artist. Contributions to the book truck â lights, mirrors, rope, duct tape, reflectors, etc. â were made by other Library Staff.Â
While our book truck didn’t win the contest this year, we still think it’s pretty great! If you haven’t seen it yet, stop by the Library to check it out! Itâs located next to our Suggestion Board, right across from the Circulation Desk.
Also, if you’re interested in viewing the winning book trucks, they’ve been posted online at:
