Having trouble locating an item in the library? Make sure you’re looking in the right collection!
Unlike most other libraries at the University of Toronto, the OISE Library uses the Dewey Decimal system. The call numbers in several of our collections (Stacks, WERC, Modern Languages, Franco-Ontarienne, Curriculum Resources, and Reference) range from 001 to 999. This means that you might find the same call number in all 6 of these collections!
When you check the catalogue record for an item, please remember to record both the location (Stacks, WERC, Modern Languages, etc.) and the call number (025.04 A551E, for example).
You’ll find the following collections on each floor of the Library:
Concourse Level: Periodicals
Ground Floor: Reference Collection; Current Periodicals
2nd Floor: Women’s Education Resources Collection (WERC); Modern Languages Collection (MLC); Stacks; Theses; Microfiche; Microfilm
3rd Floor: Children’s Literature Collection (CLC); Curriculum Resources Collection (CRc); Approved Learning Materials (ALM)
Please note that some new acquisitions are on display near the Circulation Desk on the Ground Floor of the Library.
Still unable to find what you’re looking for?
- Make sure that the item hasn’t been checked out by looking for the green “IN” in the library catalogue.
- Browse the sorting shelves located on the Concourse Level, 2nd, and 3rd floors.
- Drop by the Circulation Desk — you can fill out a “Missing Book” form. If we find the item, we’ll give you a call.
