While the debt crisis in Europe can be difficult to understand for many of us, it illustrates how closely countries and economies are linked. Canada is also linked closely with Mexico, China and the United States, primarily through trade. This Activity Kit presents a brief overview of the location, climate, geographic features, culture and trading relationships and provides students with an overview of the history of early trading and exploration in Canada. Topics such as the fur trade, early immigration and the building of early transportation systems are discussed.
