These two new young adult titles are part of the OISE Library’s Margo Sandor Children’s Literature Collection. Both titles are prequels to well loved classics of children’s literature, Peter Pan and Anne of Green Gables and will inspire readers to revisit familiar characters or discover them for the first time. Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson is the story of the orphan Anne Shirley before she is adopted by the Cuthberts of Green Gables. Anne Shirley is an intelligent, imaginative, and famously red haired young girl who must overcome hardship and neglect on her way to finally finding a home. This prequel to Anne of Green Gables was written in honour of the 100th anniversary of the publication of the original Anne story that has since become a Canadian classic.
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson is the story of a fifteen-year-old fairy named Tiger Lily and her forbidden romance in Neverland with the rebellious Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys. She risks everything-her family, her future-to be with him. As her romance with Peter Pan unfolds, Tiger Lily’s story intersects with the plot of the classic that inspired this book, J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, with the arrival of Wendy Darling.
