This week’s featured activity kit demonstrates the value of nutrition to young students. Your Body for Life [CR 613.2 Y81] is an interactive, multimedia kit that teaches students about how food affects their bodies and the importance of healthy food choices. Your Body for Life uses information about the five senses to address food choices and perception. Nutrition is explored through the relationship between different nutrient groups and the body’s growth and energy levels.
Your Body for Life contains two teacher guides. Let’s be Sense-able is a guide for exploring the five senses, and Food Power addresses nutrition and the body. Both come with background information, activity sheets, and discussion questions. Also included are a set of five finger puppets representing the senses, a food group chart with reusable stickers of foods, a sense-based game, and a food and health picture book. The kit also contains multimedia film strips and cassettes, providing introductory information and songs.
The kit is currently displayed on the small table near the Circulation Desk on the Ground Floor of the Library. Check it out today!
