Summer Work Study Position at the Library. Deadline to apply is Tuesday!

The OISE Library is seeking a summer work study student to provide a) accessibility support, and b) work on an ongoing kit inventory project.  The deadline to apply is Tuesday May 31st

Accessibility Support and Kit Inventory:

A) The successful candidate will receive training on the use of Kurzweil (http://www.kurzweiledu.com/default.html), adaptive technology software used to translate text into speech for students with visual impairments, dyslexia, and other learning challenges. The position will involve scanning documents into Kurzweil, making necessary corrections, saving as word files and PDFs, and forwarding to students with accessibility needs. (approximately 2.5 hours / week)

B) The OISE Library contains a specialized collection of activity kits, appropriate for use in K-12 classrooms. The Kit Inventory Project involves reviewing the contents of each kit and making a detailed list of missing items. This project will be of particular interest to students enrolled in an education program and / or interested in pursuing a career in education. The Work Study student will gain an excellent knowledge of the types of manipulatives, kits, and other teaching resources available for K-12 students. (a minimum of 2.5  hours / week — additional hours are available)

  • must be eligible to participate in the Work Study program. 
  • between 5 and 12 hours per week 
  • start date: as soon as possible
