The Play Lab at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto is a space to explore the role of play in our lives, with a strong emphasis on connections to wellbeing and learning. It is a laboratory for professional learning, where graduate students and educators, gamers and game designers to come together to learn and support one another.  While The Play Lab is a space to support individuals research or creative projects, we also work collaboratively on research and projects.  Our work is committed to the understanding and harnessing of play as a pedagogy of communication, critical and creative thinking, and human flourishing.

Currently, we are developing a curriculum called TOPIA, which we are now beta testing in classrooms.  We are also studying the role of play in the lives of educators, as well as working with Santiago Chile partners to explore relationships between Play, school climate, and Inclusive Schools. Please explore our site to see what we are playing around with.
