Back by Popular Demand: Finding Classroom Resources for your Practicum

Not sure how to find math manipulatives, textbooks, science kits, pictures, games, and more for your practicum?  This session’s for you!

Join Pat Serafini and Monique Flaccavento on Thursday February 24th from 4:30 – 6:30 for a hands-on session in computer lab 6.

4:30 – 5:00
Explore a variety of materials pulled from the OISE Curriculum Resources collection (teacher’s guides, textbooks, math manipulatives, children’s literature, etc.).  Feel free to drop-in at any time between 4:30 and 5:00, depending on your availability and how long you’d like to spend exploring these resources.  You can sign these materials out in the Library at the end of the workshop.

 5:00 – 6:00
Learn search strategies for finding resources for your practicum using the library catalogue and the Ministry of Education’s Trillium List.  You’ll also have the opportunity to explore Kids InfoBits, InfoTrac Junior, and Canada in Context (formerly Student Resource Centre, Canadian Edition) – 3 databases designed specifically for K-12 students which have been licensed for use in Ontario public schools.

 6:00 – 6:30
For anyone who is able to stay, we’ll take a more in-depth look at these the databases, as well as other online resources available for use in public schools in the province.
