Due to extreme heat conditions in Toronto, the primary and backup air conditioners for the University of Toronto Libraries’ data center went offline at 6pm last night. The higher than normal temperatures in the server room caused one of the disk arrays to fail which resulted in two services with data on that array to go offline — RefWorks and Scholars Portal Journals.
Current Status:
- Scholars Portal journals have been brought back up, except for the last two months’ content. Scholars Portal systems staff are working bring it back up to date.
- Refworks is still down but Scholars Portal staff are working hard to bring it back up.
- Systems staff are working with U of T engineers to bring the cooling systems back online.
