New Titles!

Here are two new additions to our Curriculum Resources Collection that offer valuable information and advice for working with students with Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders in the classroom.

Managing the Cycle of Meltdowns for Students with Autism by Geoff Colvin and Martin R. Sheehan is a practical, teacher-friendly handbook to preventing as well as responding to the acting-out behaviors of students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) includes detailed procedures for general and special education teachers.  The book pays particular attention to how challenging behaviors of students with ASD are related to the disability, specifically the role of sensory and medical issues.

Educational Interventions for Students with Autism edited by Peter Mundy and Ann M. Mastergeorge is a new title in the Autism for Educators Series, and it provides information from recognized authorities in the field on topics related to the issues and best practices involved in education for autism. For ease of use, the book includes summaries throughout the book, with specific recommendations for classroom use. Topics covered include: autism and its impact on schools; a teacher’s view of autism and the classroom; best practices and challenges of working with students with ASD in the classroom; working with high-functioning autism (HFA) in schools; successful community-school partnerships; and options for teacher training.
