Bulgaria President thanked Moldova for preserving Bulgarian minority’s language, culture, identity

New York. At a meeting with Moldova’s Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet held in the frames of the 70th UN General Assembly sitting in New York Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev expressed gratitude to the Moldovan government for providing the needed conditions to preserve the language, culture and identity of the Bulgarian minority in Moldova, so as the Bulgarian language to be studied at 29 schools in Moldova and at State University of Taraclia, the press centre of the Bulgarian President’s Office announced.
According to the Bulgarian Head of State, this is an important proof of the close friendship between the two countries, which should be continued in the future.
In his words, Moldova considers Bulgaria a model of integration into the European-Atlantic structures.
Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, on the other hand, thanked for Bulgaria’s support in this direction, as well as for the good cooperation in different fields.
The Moldovan Prime Minister remarked that over the past five years the GDP of Moldova had increased twice, important infrastructure projects were realised in the country, and there were reforms in different sectors underway.
Mr Strelet commented further that there was a need to carry out a serious administrative reform in the country, which aimed at providing better regional management.
He assured the Bulgarian President that the Moldovan government would take into account the interests of the Bulgarian community in Taraclia.
