The Robertson Program has been working with the Rainy River District School Board in Fort Frances, Ontario for more than a year now. Last year, our friends in Northwestern Ontario invited us to take part in the Fall Harvest put on by Seven Generations Education Institute, which provides for the education and training needs of Aboriginal people in the area.
We were invited to return this year! In the coming months, we’ll post more on our blog about our ongoing collaborative relationship between the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, the Rainy River District School Board, Seine River First Nation, Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation and Naicatchewenin First Nation. For now, here’s a look at a conversation shared during the Fall Harvest between our colleague Dr. Nathalie Sinclair from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia (Canada Research Chair in Tangible Mathematics) and Jason Jones of Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation who is the Ojibwe Language Curriculum Coordinator of the Rainy River District School Board.
