Inquiry-based Teaching in Science

The journey toward scientific literacy begins with instilling a sense of wonder and sparking students’ natural curiosity. In such learning environments, children are given multiple opportunities to engage in scientific inquiry: to explore, reflect, and improve on ideas of their own and others, to articulate, test, evaluate, refine or revise their theories about the world, and to construct knowledge as a group and individually. Through inquiry, children learn to investigate and analyze problems and to think critically, developing important foundational skills for future success in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics career paths (STEM).
